Lee Henson, owner and principle designer, has over 20 years of wood working and veneer experience. Lee has loved woodworking from the time he was 13 years old. He enjoyed watching and eventually working alongside his father.

Lee studied woodworking and the machines trades in vocational school, which led to his first job as a machinist with a crane company.

A few years later, Lee joined S. J. Morse, an architectural woodworking company, where he worked his way up to the lead finisher. He had the opportunity to work with master craftsmen building radius desks and library furniture for commercial interiors.

As the company grew, they became more veneer oriented and Lee became their lead veneer sequence and cutter. This was the beginning of Lee’s passions for working with veneer and it endless possibilities.

In 2002, Lee had the opportunity to learn the marquetry business when he went to work for Dover Inlay Manufacturing Company. While at Dover, Lee studied the age old craft, working with a master marquetier. It was during this time that Lee built his own small shop and started designing and building furniture.

After six years with Dover, Lee decided to pursue his own business. Lee has always been a craftsman and likes having a direct role in the work he creates. In January 2009, E. L. Henson Inlay and Design opened its doors.
