About My Grandmother’s Lace

Me at Yule Cupboard with beddingRosemary has loved color, pattern and fabrics since she was a little girl.  Her mother wasn’t very adept at using the sewing machine, so she learned to sew at a young age and began designing and making most of her own clothes.  As an adult, she became fascinated with home décor, constantly playing with how many patterns and colors she could use in a room.  What began as an interest in repurposing bits and pieces of beautiful antique lace (hence the name of her company) has graduated into a full blown interest and business in soft furnishings for the home – including lots of pillows + custom bedding, window treatments, table linens, as well as, clothing and baby accessories.  She eventually left a career at IBM and started My Grandmother’s Lace, producing products that are retailed and wholesaled around the country.

She uses her home as her design laboratory – constantly trying out new pattern mixes in bedding and pillow designs, changing slipcovers, pillows and table linens with the seasons.  This same passion transfers to her customers – she loves creating custom products with a particular theme for her specialty store clients or coming up with the perfect fabrics to complete a client’s dream bedroom.  One of her favorite tools is a design board that clusters a group of coordinating fabrics to choose from.  A sideline is making super soft baby blankets with coordinating pillows. Recent advances in custom digital printing have allowed her to print my own fabrics using original designs and to make unique pillows using my customer’s favorite pet and family photos.

At the Ice House Gallery, she primarily shows pillows and baby blankets but she also does larger custom projects and for local customers she can come to your home to help you create your own special space.

All her products are designed and made to order by artisans here in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, one of the top small town art destinations in the USA.
